Home health agencies, with Medicare's quality stars
12,405 Medicare-certified home health agencies: skilled nursing, therapy and aide visits at home, ordered by a doctor. Each listing shows Medicare's quality of patient care stars where there are enough patients to rate. Nobody pays to be ranked.
Home care or home health?
Home care is help with everyday life: bathing, dressing, meals, rides and company. You usually pay by the hour; long-term care insurance or Medicaid programs (Medi-Cal in California) sometimes help. Home health is skilled nursing and therapy ordered by a doctor, often after a hospital stay, and Medicare can cover it.

About the stars
The quality of patient care star rating is Medicare's summary of how often patients got better at walking, bathing and breathing, started care on time and avoided the hospital. Not every agency has enough patients to be rated. The full record, including the patient survey, is on Medicare Care Compare.
