- Look up the options with the record. Every licensed community in California, with its license, capacity and a link to its state inspection reports. Nursing homes show their CMS ratings and fines.
- Bring in a care manager if you need one. A nurse or social worker who assesses your parent, recommends the right level of care, tours with you and coordinates doctors, home help and moves.
- Share one family page. Your care manager posts visit notes, appointments, the care team and to-dos. Everyone with the link sees the same thing, and you can tick off your own tasks.
- Keep the paperwork straight. A checklist of the documents every family needs, and where each one is kept.
