What a professional fiduciary does

A professional fiduciary is paid to manage someone else's affairs: as trustee of a trust, agent under a power of attorney, executor, or conservator appointed by a court. Families often call one when nobody in the family can take on the money side, when siblings disagree, or when a parent has no close family. California requires most professional fiduciaries to be licensed. Most charge by the hour; ask for the fee schedule in writing.
